Through regular maintenance practices, the Fleet Division determines when Town vehicles are no longer capable of performing day-to-day operations for the Department’s workforce and designate them as surplus property.
Once a Town vehicle has been designated as surplus, the Town will auction the vehicle utilizing the online government auction platform Municibid. Notice of such auctions will be posted to the Town’s website as a bid under ‘Disposal of Governmental Surplus Property – Excluding Real Property’.
The auction of surplus vehicles and other equipment provides a significant recaptured value to the Town. In FY22, these auctions produced over $250,000 in revenue.
