Update June 28, 2024

For the last several months, the Town has been in the process of transitioning to a new billing and collection system for water-sewer bills.  Due to unexpected technical difficulties in the conversion process, water and sewer bills were not issued by the Town during the months of October 2023 through February 2024. Despite the technical issues pertaining to the billing system, the system used to measure consumption for water and sewer has continued to operate accurately and without any issues.  This means that the consumption volume residents are seeing on their most recent bills is the measured consumption for the associated billing period (which is detailed on your water-sewer bills).

When the Town resumed issuance of water-sewer bills in March, the delayed bills for the October 2023-February 2024 billing period and the most recent billing period were sent in close succession.  However, due dates were staggered to allow residents additional time to pay.   Given the shortened time between bills, in some cases, the second bill may have included the amount of the first bill as a “Balance Forward” if a payment had not been received and posted prior to the printing of the next bill.  Once the billing schedule resumes on its regular frequency again, only amounts that are past due should appear in "Balance Forward".   We apologize for any inconvenience the delay in billing may have caused you.  Please direct any questions related to water and sewer billing to the Department of Public Works at 781-455-7550 extension 2 and questions related to payments or the balance due to the Treasurer’s office at 781-455-7500 extension 502.

In related news, on Tuesday evening the Select Board voted to delay the implementation of the new water-sewer rates until October 1, 2024 rather than on July 1st as has been done traditionally.
