Council of Economic Advisors
The Council of Economic Advisors was established by the Select Board in October 2005. It is charged with six general tasks relating to the promotion of economic development in Needham: (1) study, investigate, and appraise town-wide economic conditions and trends; (2) promote, assist and encourage the preservation, development and location of new and existing industry, business, and commerce; (3) assist the town in attracting the preferred mix of goods, services, housing, recreation, and entertainment in the appropriate districts; (4) make recommendations on improving permitting and licensing functions in the town; (5) evaluate and advise the Town on ideas for zoning changes that will improve the economic vitality of the town; and (6) advise and make recommendations to appropriate officials, agencies, boards, and town departments on issues of economic development.

There are 15 members on the Council and its membership composition is comprised of, to the extent practical: member of the Select Board, member of the Planning Board, representatives of a large business located in Needham, a development attorney, representative of a major tenant in the Needham Crossing, representative of a downtown business, a commercial real estate broker, a representative of the Needham Business Association, a representative of the Newton Needham Chamber of Commerce, a representative of a local bank, a commercial developer, and residents at-large.

This vacancy is for an at-large resident.  Not required, but residents having commercial real estate ownership in Town would be a plus.

Needham Community Television Development Corporation

The Needham Channel is a not-for-profit 501(c)3 organization that provides PEG (public access, educational and governmental) cable television programming for the residents of Needham through three public access channels available to Comcast, RCN and Verizon subscribers. Work is accomplished by a small full-time staff and a large number of community volunteers overseen by an Executive Director.

Board meetings are quarterly, but candidates should also be interested and willing to provide expertise and some time working with staff on projects in any one (or more) of the following areas:

- television and video production and broadcasting
- news and public affairs journalism
- marketing and promotion, especially outreach to local business
- supporting, cultivating and recognizing an active community of volunteers

Needham Community Revitalization Trust Fund
The mission of the Needham Community Revitalization Trust Fund (NCRTF) is to revitalize Needham public spaces and bring more art into the public venue through the use of private funds. The NCRTF fund allows private citizens, organizations and businesses to contribute to the general fund to help support a variety of NCRTF projects or directly to a specific NCRTF approved project within the Town.

The NCRTF Committee is composed of seven members. Members are chosen for their ability to represent a cross section of Town areas and interests. Project proposals are brought to the Committee for consideration by committee members and members of the community and Town government. Committee meets as often as required. Membership terms are for three years.
