Needham Town Moderator Michael Fee will host “Needham Town Meeting: People, Process and Purpose” on Monday, April 10th at 7 pm at the Broadmeadow School Performance Center. This educational program will cover all aspects of Needham’s representative town meeting. All Town Meeting members and members of the public are welcome. Topics will include a discussion of Town Meeting’s powers and the important role Town Meeting plays in the governance of Needham in the 21st Century. The Moderator will describe the various participants in Town Meeting, their roles, and the process and procedures and rules used at Town Meeting. The program will include Q & A with the Moderator.
The program will begin with remarks from Arthur Brooks, a New York Times No. 1 best selling author, prominent social scientist, and Needham resident. Professor Brooks shares insight and observations about how businesses and governments can thrive through respectful engagement. Dr. Books blends cutting-edge research in behavioral science and neuroscience with philosophy and wisdom traditions. At Harvard Business School, he is known as “The Professor of Happiness.” Dr. Brooks is a columnist for The Atlantic, and he has appeared in TED Talks, Netflix, and other media.
