[ARCHIVED] Town of Needham COVID-19 Update

 April 29, 2021 – The Town of Needham and Needham Public Health today provided the following update regarding COVID-19.


State DPH COVID-19 Numbers

The Massachusetts Department of Public Health reports the number of positive cases and deaths daily on the state's COVID-19 dashboard.

Town-specific case numbers are published by the state every Thursday.

·        1,730 Needham cases to date (4/29/2021). This is an increase of 14 cases since the 4/22/21 report.

·        NEW Total residents who have received at least one vaccine dose (as of 4/22/21): 19,149

·        NEW Fully vaccinated residents (as of 4/22/21): 12,521

·        Needham is in the YELLOW category this week. Read the state’s Weekly Public Health Report here.

·        125 Coronavirus deaths in Needham to date (4/22/21).

 New Outdoor Mask Rules Effective Friday, April 30th

Beginning tomorrow, individuals are no longer required to wear face coverings outdoors if they are able to socially distance from other members of the public. Earlier this week, the Needham Board of Health updated its face covering order so that the Town’s rules align with the state’s. Members of the public must continue to wear masks when they are not able to distance from others by at least six feet outdoors and must continue to wear face coverings in all public buildings. Needham Public Health Resumes Homebound Vaccination Program

With the temporary pause on the Johnson and Johnson vaccine lifted, Needham Public Health this week resumed its homebound vaccination program. Homebound residents in Needham can schedule an appointment with Needham Public Health to receive the Covid-19 vaccine at home if they meet qualifying criteria. A total of 15 homebound Needham residents received a vaccine this week from the Needham Public Health Department. Another 10 individuals are scheduled for next week.  There are still a few available vaccines for those who are considered to be homebound.  If you or someone you know meets the criteria please email needhamvaccine@needhamma.gov or call 781-455-7934 and someone will get back to you.
