Hi Everyone!

Great hearing from you today!

Our friend, Barbara wrote, "
I'm sorry I won't be able to join the group tomorrow at 1 PM for the band class as I have a previous commitment at that time, but I expect to be able to join you on the following Tuesdays. Have a nice day and thanks so much to you and Stephen for the wonderful workout exercise classes. This helps so much." Stephen and Lisa are so great and creative with these programs. You are great Barbara for taking advantage!

She also wrote about Sunday Supper Club! Barbara wrote, "I agree with Ann and Bruce. It's so nice to have supper with friends. The dinner was delicious. I haven't had steak in a long time...it was a nice night with all the others. Everyone is so friendly and respectful of each other person's turn to speak and express themself. Please sign me up again for next Sunday night. Thank you so much." Thanks for the thoughts, Barbara! We are getting so much great feedback about Sunday Supper Club.

Fothergilla major

Mountain Witchalder, Mountain Witch-alder, Large Fothergilla

Hamamelidaceae (Witch-Hazel Family)

Mountain witch-alder or large fothergilla is a 6-12 ft., deciduous shrub with picturesquely crooked, multiple stems. Dense, dark blue-green, leathery foliage becomes colorful in fall. The fragrant flower, appearing as a mass of stamens, is white and occurs in thimble-like, terminal spikes after the leaves have appeared.

ENTERTAINING/INTERESTING

Today in history in 1954 introduced the inoculation of children with Jonas Salk's polio vaccine in Pittsburgh. Nation wide testing began two months later. It was the first successful vaccine for the dreaded disease. Before the vaccine, there were about 15,000 cases of paralysis and 1,900 deaths annually from polio in the U.S.
Let's see how many famous people had polio - and how they thrived.
My dad was a Rotarian and I love the Needham Rotary so let's give them a shout out for all they did with polio.

When asked who owns this patent, Salk replied, "Well, the people I would say. There is no patent. Could you patent the sun?" It is estimated the patent would have been worth billions had it been patented.
Have a goodnight everyone and we will chat tomorrow!
