The Board of Assessors is responsible for the administration of a wide range of state laws pertaining to ad valorem taxation. Valuation of all real estate and personal property, as well as the administration of the Massachusetts state motor vehicle excise tax, is done on an annual basis.

Information pertaining to all residential, commercial/industrial and personal property is maintained and updated on an annual basis. Upon completion of the annual and special Town Meetings, and receipt warrants from county and state funding sources, the financial information is processed in preparation for the setting of the tax rate by the Selectmen and the Assessors at the annual Classification Hearing.
