Friends of the Needham Elderly
The Friends of the Needham Elderly, Inc. (FONE) was established to assist the Council on Aging by raising or obtaining funds or property for various programs and activities that are offered which were not being fully funded or supported by federal, state, or local government agencies.

Monthly Newsletter
The Compass is the monthly newsletter that entails the “who, what, when, and why” of events scheduled at the Stephen Palmer Senior Center and throughout the community. It is printed and mailed to over 1,500 Needham households by the FONE but may also be received by email or viewed on the website. Call the Council on Aging at 781-455-7556 for a copy to add your name to the mailing list.

The Friends of the Needham Elderly, Inc.(FONE) are responsible for financing the printing and distribution of the Compass newsletter, they help the Council on Aging with special projects such as the Trip Program, and provide assistance with other endeavors that support the mission to promote health and wellness. In 2011, with the support of FONE the Council on Aging was successful in receiving a grant from the Mobility Assistance Program, through the Massachusetts Department of Transportation, for a new 14 passenger, wheelchair accessible Van. FONE has also lead efforts to raise funds that will support the programs and services of the new Center at The Heights that will open in the fall of 2013.
