The 2017 Summer Brochure is the complete listing of all programs that Park and Recreation will offer this winter/spring at locations throughout Needham.

Please use a 2017 Summer Registration Form if you are planning on registering in-person or by mail.

The Park and Recreation Department no longer mails a paper brochure to every residence in Needham, and will only print a limited number of the brochures each season. Printed brochures will be available at the Park and Recreation Office, the Town Managers Office in Town Hall, the Needham Public Library, the Police Department-Dispatch Desk and The Center at the Heights.

Park and Recreation is excited to offer our Summer Volunteer Program for the summer of 2017!

Copies of the volunteer informational booklet can be found online, on our facebook page, or picked up in the Park and Recreation Office (500 Dedham Avenue) beginning on Monday, April 3rd.

Volunteer registration will begin with after hours registration on Wednesday, April 5th from 5:00 - 6:30pm and continue during normal business hours until Friday, June 9th.

Volunteers and parents are required to sign the back side of the Volunteer Application for it to be accepted. As long as the application is signed by the volunteer, the volunteer does not need to be present. This is also true for the parent; as long as the application is signed by the parent, the parent does not have to be present.

There is a $25 fee for our volunteer program. This fee covers the costs for all volunteer materials including the volunteer tee-shirt and mandatory training supplies.

Volunteers are required to provide a character reference to complete their application. The reference is not required at the time of registration but must be submitted to the Park and Recreation office no later than Friday, June 16th.

Most frequently asked questions are answered in the informational booklet, but any additional questions can be addressed to the Park and Recreation Office (781-455-7550 ext. 3).

The Future of Rosemary Pool
After 45 summers, the current pool closed on August 26th for its final season. The current Rosemary Pool is filled with years of swim lessons, deep water tests, gallons of sunscreen, swim meets, first time summer jobs, and mostly tons of cherished memories. So it is a sad time for long time residents and newer ones that have just begun to experience all that this Rosemary has to offer - but it is also an exciting time as we continue to move forward with the hopes for a new facility.

Our hope is to receive construction funding at the May 2017 Town Meeting and begin construction on the new facility to be open in the Summer of 2018. Design plan information can be found at www.needhamma.gov/RosemaryRecreationComplexDocuments and in the new notice that the Park and Recreation Commission released in early August.

We have enjoyed all of our many patrons over the years that make up the Rosemary family. Over the fall our department will be looking into what might be available to Needham families during our transition so please keep checking back for updates or sign up for our blast list (Click on 'Notify Me' and sign up for our 'Recreation Information' and 'Rosemary Pool Project' blast lists).
