Workshop 3
On June 25, 2008, the Needham Planning Board and Needham Center Study Committee held a town-wide meeting where a presentation was made of the Comprehensive Plan for the Needham Center, Chestnut Street Business, and Highland Avenue Business Districts. There are two DVDs of the workshop, recorded by The Needham Cable Channel, available at the Needham Library Reference Desk.

The Comprehensive Plan incorporates feedback from two previous town-wide public workshops held in December 2006 and June 2007, as well as ongoing meetings with the Needham Center Study Committee. At the meeting, committee members and the consultant team, led by Dinisco Design Partnership, presented the proposed Comprehensive Plan, which includes a vision and specific recommendations for land use, zoning, traffic, parking, streetscape improvements, and open space. The purpose of the meeting was to solicit public comments and suggestions, which will be incorporated into the final Plan recommendations to be completed by the Committee over the course of the summer. The consultant team, as well as members of the Downtown Study Committee, Planning Board and Board of Selectmen, were present to discuss all aspects of the Plan. Following this Community Planning Meeting, a public hearing on the final zoning proposal is anticipated for the early fall. The proposal is expected to be presented at the Special Town Meeting in November 2008.

The Downtown Study Workshop 3 presentation will be on Needham Cable Channel and is currently available at the Library Reference desk to take out.
