2020 McIver Lecture Series—Glassworks! Lecture 2: Messages from the Past: How a Restorer Reads a Stained Glass Window with Eric Mauro, of Eric Mauro Stained Glass

Sunday, February 16, 2020

Eric Mauro creates, repairs and restores stained glass windows in Boston, and surrounding areas. Eric started out as a commercial artist doing advertising for high tech ventures when he decided that it was time to create and restore art on his own.
As Eric says, “Working with stained glass demands everything I know about painting, design, construction, people and much that I don’t know. The thing I love about it is the way it transforms light that is otherwise ignored into a new presence in your space. Stained glass takes purposeless light and turns it into something you will notice and appreciate every day.” Join us to hear about Eric’s work in creating art with stained glass, how he approaches repair and restoration, and what he has learned about art by restoring Victorian stained glass windows.

This is the second of four lectures, and is sponsored by the Trustees of the Needham Free Public Library in memory of former director Vivian D. McIver.
