Volunteers Around Needham is a program that allows students entering grades 7-12 to participate in single-day community service projects in areas that interest them throughout the year.
For 25 years, the Volunteers Around Needham Program hosted by Youth & Family Services has provided opportunities for youth to get involved in community service with various local organizations, gaining experience and giving back to their community as they work towards meeting their CSL requirements for graduation.
Sessions of Project VAN (Volunteers Around Needham) typically run during February, April, and summer break in July. Each day runs from 9am-12pm and students receive 3 hours of community service per day. They are welcome to sign up for one day or many.
In past years, we've collaborated with:
- Needham Community Council
- Needham Council on Aging at the Center at the Heights
- Needham Fire Station
- Needham Community Farm
- Needham Parks and Forestry Division
- Circle of Hope
- Charles River Center
- Hebrew SeniorLife's NewBridge on the Charles
