NEEDHAM COUNCIL FOR ARTS AND CULTURE SEEKS FUNDING PROPOSALS
Proposals for community-oriented arts, humanities, and science programs are due Friday, October 15th 11:59 PM EST.
NEEDHAM - September 3rd, 2021--In partnership with the Town of Needham, the Needham Council for Arts and Culture (NCAC) is now accepting applications from organizations, schools, and individuals seeking funding to support cultural activities in the community.
Grants from NCAC can be used to support a variety of artistic projects and activities in Needham -- including organizational support, exhibits, festivals, field trips, short-term artist residencies, performances in schools, workshops, and lectures. “The Select Board is grateful to the NCAC for securing these funds and recognizing grant recipients that, through art, both delight our community and stimulate conversation on topics that matter to Needham,” said Select Board member Marianne Cooley.
NCAC will distribute $7,800 in grants to support the cultural vitality of the community. The Needham Council for Arts and Culture will prioritize projects or programs that help meet the needs of underserved or in-need groups as well as applications that elevate the diverse voices and experiences of historically marginalized populations. Previously funded projects included grantees such as Arlekin Players Theatre, Plugged In Band, Needham Diversity Initiative, Gorse Mills Studios, Needham Art Association, Highland Glee Club, Needham Open Studios, and many individual artists as well.
The deadline for applications is October 15th, 2021, at 11:59 pm.
The Needham Council for Arts and Culture is part of a network of 329 Local Cultural Councils (LCC) serving all 351 cities and towns in the Commonwealth. The LCC Program is the largest grassroots cultural funding network in the nation, supporting thousands of community-based projects in the arts, sciences, and humanities every year. The state legislature provides an annual appropriation to the Mass Cultural Council, a state agency, which then allocates funds to each community.
NCAC will host a virtual Grants Information and Q & A Session for potential applicants on Tuesday, September 21st at 7:00 p.m. Interested parties may RSVP to firstname.lastname@example.org for a zoom link to the session or find it on the Town’s website at needhamma.gov. The NCAC will also be available at the Needham Harvest Fair on October 3, 2021, to answer questions.
